Scott Allan grew up in the theatre and is now a Lighting Designer, based in Melbourne. He is a professional member of the Association of Lighting Designers (ALD), a committee member of the Australasian Lighting Industry Association (ALIA) and has twice attended the Broadway Design Master-class series at New York University (more). After training with the Young People's Theatre (1986-1992), Scott spent eight years as Resident Lighting Designer for pantomime and productions in repertory. Scott also worked regularly for Hunter Valley Theatre Company, Hunter School of Performing Arts, Newcastle Repertory Club, Opera Hunter, Freewheels TIE and Flying Teapot Theatre Company. |

Working in residence at the Shore School (SCEGS, Blue St), Scott collaborated with Resident Designer Adam Lindberg to ensure a high standard of production design over a number of years for the elaborate shows produced by the Performing Arts Faculty, corporate cliental and Sydney theatre companies. Scott continued to freelance between Sydney and the Hunter Region before moving to Queensland to lead the lighting team at the Gold Coast Arts Centre. He was later appointed Production Manager to oversee the full operations of their musical theatre program, touring productions and Summer School - Education in the Arts program. Scott continues to create original lighting designs for this company. In 1996 he established a small production company contributing to other areas of the industry and toured nationally as Production/Stage Manager on Henri Szeps' one-man show I'm not a Dentist (Lawrence Jackson Productions) and Late Nite Catechism (Adrian Bohm Presents) with Denise Roberts. Scott later remounted Late Nite Catechism for GCAC/NARPACA Venues which toured Australia and New Zealand with Sally-Anne Upton. For four years Scott held the position of Technical Manager for the Arts Faculty at Deakin University. Responsible for the Faculty's Technical Operations over four campuses, Scott worked intensely across many Arts disciplines including Film & Television Production, Dance & Drama, Photography, Animation and Motion Capture; contributing to developments in research, teaching and learning, as well as coordinating many specialised projects and events. Now settled in Melbourne, Scott continues to work with a diverse range of theatre makers, corporate presenters, educators and architects...
